GAF

GAF is one of North America's leading shingle manufacturers, tracing its roots back to 1886 when it opened as the Standard Paint Company. By 1892 Standard Paint had delved into roofing, becoming one of the leading innovators in asphalt products. Over the past 150 years GAF has been involved in a number of industries, including manufacturing film and cameras for Disney. Despite this diversification, GAF stayed firmly rooted in roofing, constantly paving the way with cutting edge innovations. In 1933 GAF, at this point known as The RUBEROID Co., introduced the Tite-On shingles, which became the model that all of today's asphalt shingles are based upon. By 1967 RUBEROID became GAF and introduced the Timberline Shingle, which would become North America's number one selling shingle.
